Table:The table is the largest facet that is on the very top of a diamond.
Crown: The top portion of a diamond extending from the girdle to the table.
Pavilion: The bottom portion of a diamond, extending from the girdle to the culet.
Culet: The facet on the bottom of a diamond. Usually the culet is nearly impossible to see. A large culet is common when cut in the early part of this century.
Girdle: The outer edge of a diamond, and is graded by its thickness. A girdle that is too thin may be more prone to chipping accidentally. Extremely thick girdles usually produce extra depth and less brilliance. Girdles may be faceted or polished.
Depth: The height of a gemstone measured from the culet to the table.
